Excellence is often mistaken for perfection, but in reality, it’s a journey, not a destination. It’s not about being flawless or reaching a specific status; it’s about consistently striving to improve and making the most of the talents and opportunities available to us. In this blog, we explore the concept of excellence from a holistic perspective, demonstrating how anyone can excel in various aspects of life, including personal development, relationships, and spiritual growth. This ultimately leads to an enriched life experience and a deeper connection with the values that guide us.
I chose the word “excel” over “excellent” for a reason. To be excellent is subjective, varying from person to person and system to system, with too many variables. Consider Baseball Hall of Famers: Ty Cobb had a career batting average of .366; Ted Williams, .344; Babe Ruth, .342; and Hank Aaron, .305. All were inducted into the Hall of Fame, yet none had a batting average over .400. Out of 10 times at bat, not one could average 4 hits. But they all excelled. If they had hit 10 out of 10, they would be considered excellent. However, you don’t need to be excellent to win. But you do need to excel.
